Hurricane Sandy was crazy. I was watching the news and keeping updated via a Facebook page and my Twitter - as I was seeing the pictures of the devastation to the East Coast I was sharing them on my Instagram.
This storm is the largest Atlantic hurricane on record and the second costliest Atlantic hurricane, beat by Katrina. Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the East Coast near Atlantic City, NJ.
Watching the news and seeing the damage via video coverage and photos ripped my heart apart. This storm killed 113 people in the United States...one of the saddest stories I remember was of the mother whose 2 boys were ripped from her arms by the water and found dead the next morning.
My heart broke for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, it was tragic.. but Hurricane Sandy affected me in a different way. Hurricane Katrina played on my sympathy while Hurricane Sandy played on my memories and childhood.
Growing up in South Jersey, the shore and boardwalk were my summer past times. So much of it was destroyed.. so much was washed away. Here are some pictures I gathered from around the internet... Up and down the East Coast...
So sad. I have a lot of family in New York and New Jersey... My heart goes out to everyone affected.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is sad... I was in tears watching some of the footage. However, I do love how people come together in crisis.
