While browsing Twitter a few months ago with the hashtag "wife", I came across a Twitter user who promotes wives and marriage. Her tweets were encouraging and uplifting to me, especially during difficult moments I had.

Back to School! = Happy Mom

Last week we had the kids open houses and school started this week. Tomorrow will be the first day that all three kids are back in school. Getting up at 6am is totally worth it for a day of peace and quiet. I love my kids, but it's gonna be nice to have the day to myself.

Proud Wife Moment!

Today I went to the WLC graduation to support my husband, just like the other spouses there. They were supporting their graduate - I was supporting my love,

You know you're an Army Wife when....

I posted this as a thread on my army wife fan page. I just got some great answers!
Here they are.....

You know you're an Army Wife when ~

...you run for the phone, every time it rings.

...you can spot a soldier in civilian clothes a mile away.

...you spell using the phonetic alphabet.

...you check your wallet for your id repeatedly before driving off post.

...Every time your husband thinks he's in charge you remind him his rank doesn't work in your presence! Or you know not to plan ahead ever!

...you ask your husband a question and responds with roger, or yes mam' 1500.

...you understand a shit load of acronyms.

...back home is your last duty station and not where you come from and when your cellphone area code is from the last place you have been.

...you know all the army lingo, not because you want to, but because you have to.

...you wait for the next phone call, email, text message or letter home.

...you know his friends and people he works with only by their last names.

...you have a stock in flat rate shipping boxes.

...everything is military time and you wash laundry all the time.

...you talk to family and friends from back home and use military terms like they understand what you're saying.

...love becomes more than just a four letter word, it becomes your lifeline...letters, emails, calls, text messages. When 5 minutes feels like 3 hours and 45 seconds becomes the best call of your life.

...you spend 5 hrs, with 4 other wives cause they're the only ones who showed to the FRG event, making welcome home banners, and baskets for single soldiers.

...you purchase shipping tape every time you pass the aisle in the grocery store.

...you carry shipping tape, sharpies, and customs forms in your vehicle.

...you've spent more time apart than you have together.

...you don't make plans too far in advance because you know they are going to get changed before it's all said and done.

...you actually miss washing all those freaking uniforms... oh and tripping over those boots that he just leaves around.

Army Wife/Gf IS NOT the toughest job in the Army!

So, I'm sure we've all seen the sticker or shirt that says "Army Wife, Toughest Job in the Army". This is only my opinion, but I think that is one of the most stupid things I have ever read! The fact that women actually believe this makes it even worse!!

Now in no way am I saying that being an army wife/gf isn't hard, but come on people!! Oh, and when I say girlfriend, I mean the women who have been there for a significant amount of time. I'm not referring to the women who have been involved with an army man for a month or 2 before they deploy and I'm certainly not referring to "tag chasers".

Yes, it is hard on me raising the kids by myself....it hard on me during the holidays and it's hard on me when the kids are missing him, but it is far easier on me than him. I have the comforts of home in a familiar place. He has none of that. Every second he is there, he is at risk for being killed. Yes, I know I could get killed in an accident home, but the chances of that are slim. He constantly has a target on his back. At holidays, he sees his kids through a webcam, while I can hold and kiss them in person. He eats meals at the DFAC or out of the microwave, I eat home cooked meals. At night while I sleep soundly, he probably hears bombs and guns going off.

It really pisses me off when women say and think they have it harder than their husband who is serving in the army. They don't know hard until they have stepped foot on foreign land in a country where you're a target (unless she is a soldier herself or prior soldier).

Please take notice that I have never said "my soldier" or "their soldier". I always refer to them as "husband/s". My husband is just that, MY HUSBAND. The contract he signed with me was as husband and wife, not as soldier and wife.

I suppose this is the end of my little rant. LOL.

Army Wife Seal

The Army Wives Seal

The eagle at the top of the circle represents the Army Wife, who in protecting her nest, also protects the flag and the future it represents. Alert and poised, she is ready to defend either when the need arises.

As the ultimate goal of her husband's profession is peace, so is it hers. The olive branch held by the eagle represents this peace; her hope for an end to wars for her husband and her children.

The lyre, symbol of harmony, gentility and romance, surrounds the four phases of her life that she holds dear:

The cradle represents her children, her Mother - her own Motherhood. The sheaf of wheat represents the staples and stability she provides for her family - her duty.

The grapes represent the social life, the wine, fun, sense of humor - her lighter side.

The open book represents her individuality and personal self-fulfillment, truth, knowledge and wisdom. The person she is and becomes - her personal self.

The double circle enclosing all is her wedding band, symbol of eternity and never ending love. This circle is broken only by the eagle, here a symbol of her duty to country. For the Army Wife, the break in the circle represents the many separations and the possible ultimate sacrifice.
