I was participating in a post on Facebook and the question was about telling your children if Santa was real or not. When I was little, I believed in Santa. When I found out he wasn't real, I was heartbroken. I hated that I was lied to about it. So I made the decision to not lie to my kids.
My kids know all about the spirit of Christmas and the stories of Santa Claus. They know that there was once a man named St. Nick who gave gifts to children. They love all the Christmas movies, including the ones about Santa..they love all the Christmas songs.. They also know about some pagan traditions when it comes to Christmas and they know the beliefs of Christmas from the Christian point of view. We read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and the Story of the birth of Jesus. My children are well rounded when it comes to this.

Thanksgiving 2012
This Thanksgiving was just like every other Thanksgiving..I ate so much I thought my tummy would burst lol I was up early to start cooking, after drinking and going to bed late last night...nothing that a pot of coffee couldn't cure =)
This year I was especially thankful that Darrell was home again... 2yrs in a row!! I guess his position now does have some positives to it. The kids are healthy and growing like weeds.. my thyroid is under control..I've lost 20lbs.. yay =)

My "Political" Rant
Over the past few days I've been seeing tons of things about the election and what it means, as I'm sure most of you have too. One thing that stuck out to me was the talk of "Traditional America" being gone.
The title of an article I read really grabbed my attention -
"The days of white male hegemony are finally, mercifully over." - For those who don't know, "hegemony" means leadership or dominance, esp by one country or social group.

Me, Me, Me... More about Me!
I did a "Get to know the Creator of the page" post on *AWDIWH* the other day and now I'll answer the questions...
Where were you stationed and when? How long have you been an army wife? What's your hubs' MOS?
The first place we went was Fort Riley, KS. Then we moved onto Fort Carson, CO, then to Fort Hood, TX and we're currently at Fort Stewart, GA.
My husband joined the army in 2002...so I've been living this lifestyle with him for 10 1/2yrs now. There have been times when I've questioned whether or not I could handle it, but I always come out stronger through each trial.
I can never remember the technical term for my husband's MOS. His main "job" is being a tank mechanic. Right now though, he is an SGL out at WLC. (Small group leader, aka Instructor, at Warrior Leadership Course...he trains NCOs - Non-commissioned Officers.)

Hurricane Sandy - Wicked Ol' Bitch
Hurricane Sandy was crazy. I was watching the news and keeping updated via a Facebook page and my Twitter - as I was seeing the pictures of the devastation to the East Coast I was sharing them on my Instagram.
This storm is the largest Atlantic hurricane on record and the second costliest Atlantic hurricane, beat by Katrina. Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the East Coast near Atlantic City, NJ.
Watching the news and seeing the damage via video coverage and photos ripped my heart apart. This storm killed 113 people in the United States...one of the saddest stories I remember was of the mother whose 2 boys were ripped from her arms by the water and found dead the next morning.

My Christ Year.. 33
My 33rd birthday has come and gone.. October 27, 2012... Nothing big or spectacular lol Just figured I should mention it..
With my husband's schedule how it is, he is hardly ever home. I thought him not being deployed would be a blessing, and it is, but his hours with the instructor position are nuts and we hardly get any time together.. Yes, I'm whining.. I'm allowed =)
So, for my birthday, all I wanted was time together. Just like our anniversary. I'm a simple gal. I don't care about expensive gifts or fancy things. The memories of being with my husband and kids are more precious to me than anything in the world.

North Carolina mini Get-a-way!
The weekend before my birthday (weekend of October 20th) we went up to North Carolina to meet up with the in-laws. The guys wanted to watch the football game on Sunday, Nana wanted to see the kids and I simply wanted to get out of the house! LOL
The ride wasn't too bad, we met about half way. They came down from NJ and we went up from GA. There were a few things that stood out during the ride though..
