Spouses to blame? Not Completely...

There is all this "hoop la" about a wife who found out her husband had died in combat via text last week. My heart goes out to the families who have lost loved ones. In no way do I think how she found out was right...not at all. I would be horrified to find out that way and I'm saddened for her that she did.

However, I think putting all the blame on the spouses of the unit is wrong. Yes, they are partly to blame. Even though there was a communications blackout, someone got word to someone else back home...meaning a soldier told his wife what happened. My husband has been deployed 4 times and been through numerous blackouts...there is ALWAYS a way to contact home if they want to bad enough. These soldiers should know whether or not their wives are busy bodies and will open their mouths.

How true is that?!! How many times have people ran their mouth and people were told the wrong information? Something as little as "Sgt Jones tripped down the steps and broke his ankle" can turn into "Sgt Jones was ambushed and the enemy broke his leg." - What if someone was told their husband was dead and he really wasn't?

Maybe everyone, soldiers & spouses, should learn to keep their mouths shut about important things like this. Of course this is meant towards those who like to be busy bodies lol...

"Chex Mix" - a prescription drug party

When I was a teenager I did some stupid things...we all have I'm sure. I use to tell my mom I was staying over so & so's house and I really stay at my boyfriends and party half the night.

The parties I would go to there would be people smoking weed, making out, and drinking 40's and Boones Farm...you know you remember Boones LOL... we sat around playing cards and listening to music...some people danced... I did not, sadly I lack in the coordination department lol

Now that I have put that out there let me tell you what I heard on the radio this morning. Apparently, teens now, go to parties and make a "chex mix". This "chex mix" consists of prescription pills that the kids steal from their parents. They empty all the pills into a big bowl and mix it up. They then each take 2 pills, not knowing what pills they are taking.

The only prescription pills I have are my thyroid pills...for someone without an underactive thyroid my pills would be like speed for them. I can't imagine a teen taking my dosage, let alone mixing it with something else! And I'm sure that along with the pills, these teens are drinking too.

Teen parties now-a-days include heavy drug use, strong alcohol and sex. I can only pray that I raise my kids well enough to have better sense than this. My boys are turning 13 & 12 this summer... it scares the shit out of me.

A Message From My Husband...

I'm really tired of seeing these posts about when a celebrity dies and people stating that an x amount of Soldiers die everyday at war. Correct me if I'm wrong, but before any of you were in the Military, Soldiers were dying and there was none of these posts.

Celebrities jobs are to entertain people. If a celebrity is an international superstar then of course they are going to get the media attention. Simply that is their business, to entertain and with that comes mass media attention when they die.

Us, as Soldiers, are in the business of killing and protecting our country by any means necessary. We don't get the attention because simply we don't need it. We have the most prestigious job in the WORLD. This is not to take any credit from our Soldiers who paid the ultimate Sacrifice. My hat is off to you and I salute you!

This is for some of you people that try to piggyback off a celebrities death and water it down to make it be all about the Soldiers. Whatever happened to just being an American and caring about people in general? Because if you didn't know it, when I take my boots and Acu's off I am still a person!

So let's not make one death mean more than the other. Because celebrities are people as well! Respect their lives, families and let the people who want to grieve over them grieve. That's the beauty of America, if you don't like it shut the fuck up and change the page or channel, but don't be that ignorant to talk about someone who died!

The thought of Losing him...

All the "hoop-la" around the death of Whitney Houston on facebook had me thinking...

If something were to happen to my husband, be it at war or something else, I would be torn apart. Even if we were together or not, I would feel empty inside. I would mourn him because of my love for him... because of how he made me feel at my happiest moments... his past indiscretions and wrong doings wouldn't mean a thing in that moment... I also wouldn't be thinking about his occupation as a soldier...that is not why I love him..

When people lose someone they love, they deserve to grieve...and they deserve to do so without someone else discrediting that life...

A soldier, a celebrity, a doctor, a teacher...a drunk, a druggie, a homeless person down on their luck.. a lost life to those who loved them is a tragedy, no matter who it is.

Just some thoughts of mine...
