To All Parents - by Edgar Guest

A woman messaged me and told me I might like and want to share a poem that someone gave to her when her daughter died. Maybe it will help comfort those who are struggling right now.

To All Parents
"I'll lend you for a little while a child of mine," he said,"for you to love the while she lives and mourn for when she's dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three, but will you, till I call her back, take care of her for me? She'll bring her charms to gladden you, and should her stay be brief, you'll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief."

"I cannot promise she will stay; since all from earth return, but there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes I have chosen you. Now will you give her all your love, nor think the labor vain, nor hate me when I come to call to take her back again?"

"I fancied that I heard them say,"Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done! For all the joy this child shall bring, the risk of grief will run. We'll shelter her with tenderness,we'll live her while we may, and for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay; but should the angels call for her much sooner than we've planned, we'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand!"

A Poem for the Sandy Hook tragedy ♥

This is beautiful ♥

twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
...they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing ...of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

How To Get a Man to do What you Want - Mark Gungor

This session was good too! Mark Gungor talks about how to get men to do what we want and of course adds some humor to it.

Do you ever have to ask your husband to do something more than once? I know I do, although I don't ask him to do much. And, do you hate having to ask more than once? Again, I do.. and why do I hate it? I'll say what most of you are probably thinking after reading that question ----- Because I shouldn't have to ask more than once!!!  Right?

Communication with Men and Women - Mark Gungor

During our second session at the Marriage Retreat, we also heard a humorous take on how men and women communicate differently.

Here is a video clip of Mark Gungor explaining what certain words mean to men and then what they mean to women (followed by a "cap" of what he says for those who don't wish to watch the video):

"A Tale of Two Brains" - Our 1st and 2nd Session

At the marriage retreat, we watched a video by Mark Gungor - "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage". He made excellent points while using humor.

Our first and second sessions were on how men and women think differently. He says, "Men's brains are specialized. Compartmentalized." He says that men have "boxes" and the "boxes" never touch..meaning he focus's on one thing at time. He also goes on to say that men have a special "box" in their head that most women don't know about... the "Nothing Box". He says, "When a man is not driven by a specific task, something he can fight for or dominate, he will drift. A man will drift to the comfort and solitude of his "nothing box" every chance he gets.

The Liebster Award =)

How awesome!! I've been awarded the "The Liebster Award" by a fellow blogger..thank you Angela (Click to see her blog) - What is "The Liebster Award" you may be wondering? It is a blog award given to bloggers who have less than 200 followers. The award is passed on to other new and upcoming bloggers to help spread the word on their blogs.  Seems pretty cool to me!

Little thing I learned today - "Liebster" is German for "favorite".. google is my friend!

Our 1st Strong Bonds Marriage Retreat!

This past weekend we went on our first marriage retreat and I have to say I enjoyed myself sooooo much! The retreat was in Orlando, Fl at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort/Hotel. This place was amazing! It was so beautiful and there was so much to do that I didn't want to leave. As a matter of fact, Alexis asked if we could live there lol...

The "theme" of the retreat was "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage", a seminar/book by Mark Gungor. I took notes because I wanted to make some posts on some of the things we were told, but at the end of the weekend we got the book, so now the blog posts I do on some of the topics discussed will be a bit more in depth..yay! I know some won't like what is said, but it is hard to hear the truth, right?

Sons Of Anarchy *Season 5 Finale* ((Spoiler Alert & Graphic Pics))

Normally, I don't write about television shows and give re-caps or spoilers, but I have to write about this! I can't remember the last time I felt so many different emotions on one show.. SOA seems to do it every time!

Last night was the season finale for Season 5, as all die hard SOA fans know. The episode was called "J'ai Obtenu Cette" - which in the French means "I Got This"... and boy did he!! (He being Jax, of course.)

**Spoilers to follow (and graphic pics) - You've been warned!**

The episode opened with Jax going to Pope and worrying about if he'll be able to trust him once Tig is out of the picture since he says Tig is all he has left that Pope wants. Jax gets Pope to agree to have a few more things in writing to secure himself and then heads on his way.

A Friend's Blog - "My Life: Then and Now"

I have this amazing friend who started writing a blog after the suggestion of a friend... she was having a hard time and was told that it would help her to get her feelings and thoughts out, even if it was to no one at all... holding things in, all bottled up, only creates more stress..

From my friend:

"A friend told me to start blogging about my life and how I overcame abuse, rape, and drug addiction while also being a soldier."

The Meaning Behind "The 12 Days of Christmas"

Curious as to where the song came from and what it means? Here ya go!

The song was composed by Catholics in England during the 16th century, who were forbidden by law to practice their Catholic faith. The only legal church in England was the state church. To teach their children basic doctrine, they used nonsense songs that would not raise the suspicions of the non-Catholics around them, but would remind the children of their faith.

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
The first day of the Christmas celebration is counted from December 26, the day after Christmas, to January 6, the traditional day for celebrating the coming of the wise men to worship Jesus, also called the day of "Epiphany."
