While browsing Twitter a few months ago with the hashtag "wife", I came across a Twitter user who promotes wives and marriage. Her tweets were encouraging and uplifting to me, especially during difficult moments I had.

To All Parents - by Edgar Guest
A woman messaged me and told me I might like and want to share a poem that someone gave to her when her daughter died. Maybe it will help comfort those who are struggling right now.
To All Parents
"I'll lend you for a little while a child of mine," he said,"for you to love the while she lives and mourn for when she's dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three, but will you, till I call her back, take care of her for me? She'll bring her charms to gladden you, and should her stay be brief, you'll have her lovely memories as solace for your grief."
"I cannot promise she will stay; since all from earth return, but there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes I have chosen you. Now will you give her all your love, nor think the labor vain, nor hate me when I come to call to take her back again?"
"I fancied that I heard them say,"Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done! For all the joy this child shall bring, the risk of grief will run. We'll shelter her with tenderness,we'll live her while we may, and for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay; but should the angels call for her much sooner than we've planned, we'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand!"

A Poem for the Sandy Hook tragedy ♥
This is beautiful ♥
twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
...they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing ...of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

How To Get a Man to do What you Want - Mark Gungor
This session was good too! Mark Gungor talks about how to get men to do what we want and of course adds some humor to it.
Do you ever have to ask your husband to do something more than once? I know I do, although I don't ask him to do much. And, do you hate having to ask more than once? Again, I do.. and why do I hate it? I'll say what most of you are probably thinking after reading that question ----- Because I shouldn't have to ask more than once!!! Right?

Communication with Men and Women - Mark Gungor
During our second session at the Marriage Retreat, we also heard a humorous take on how men and women communicate differently.
Here is a video clip of Mark Gungor explaining what certain words mean to men and then what they mean to women (followed by a "cap" of what he says for those who don't wish to watch the video):

"A Tale of Two Brains" - Our 1st and 2nd Session
At the marriage retreat, we watched a video by Mark Gungor - "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage". He made excellent points while using humor.
Our first and second sessions were on how men and women think differently. He says, "Men's brains are specialized. Compartmentalized." He says that men have "boxes" and the "boxes" never touch..meaning he focus's on one thing at time. He also goes on to say that men have a special "box" in their head that most women don't know about... the "Nothing Box". He says, "When a man is not driven by a specific task, something he can fight for or dominate, he will drift. A man will drift to the comfort and solitude of his "nothing box" every chance he gets.

The Liebster Award =)
How awesome!! I've been awarded the "The Liebster Award" by a fellow blogger..thank you Angela (Click to see her blog) - What is "The Liebster Award" you may be wondering? It is a blog award given to bloggers who have less than 200 followers. The
award is passed on to
other new and upcoming bloggers to help spread the word on their blogs. Seems pretty cool to me!
Little thing I learned today - "Liebster" is German for "favorite".. google is my friend!

Our 1st Strong Bonds Marriage Retreat!
This past weekend we went on our first marriage retreat and I have to say I enjoyed myself sooooo much! The retreat was in Orlando, Fl at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort/Hotel. This place was amazing! It was so beautiful and there was so much to do that I didn't want to leave. As a matter of fact, Alexis asked if we could live there lol...
The "theme" of the retreat was "Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage", a seminar/book by Mark Gungor. I took notes because I wanted to make some posts on some of the things we were told, but at the end of the weekend we got the book, so now the blog posts I do on some of the topics discussed will be a bit more in depth..yay! I know some won't like what is said, but it is hard to hear the truth, right?

Sons Of Anarchy *Season 5 Finale* ((Spoiler Alert & Graphic Pics))
Normally, I don't write about television shows and give re-caps or spoilers, but I have to write about this! I can't remember the last time I felt so many different emotions on one show.. SOA seems to do it every time!
Last night was the season finale for Season 5, as all die hard SOA fans know. The episode was called "J'ai Obtenu Cette" - which in the French means "I Got This"... and boy did he!! (He being Jax, of course.)
The episode opened with Jax going to Pope and worrying about if he'll be able to trust him once Tig is out of the picture since he says Tig is all he has left that Pope wants. Jax gets Pope to agree to have a few more things in writing to secure himself and then heads on his way.

A Friend's Blog - "My Life: Then and Now"
I have this amazing friend who started writing a blog after the suggestion of a friend... she was having a hard time and was told that it would help her to get her feelings and thoughts out, even if it was to no one at all... holding things in, all bottled up, only creates more stress..
From my friend:
"A friend told me to start blogging about my life and how I overcame abuse, rape, and drug addiction while also being a soldier."

The Meaning Behind "The 12 Days of Christmas"
Curious as to where the song came from and what it means? Here ya go!
The song was composed by Catholics in England during the 16th century, who were forbidden by law to practice their Catholic faith. The only legal church in England was the state church. To teach their children basic doctrine, they used nonsense songs that would not raise the suspicions of the non-Catholics around them, but would remind the children of their faith.
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
The first day of the Christmas celebration is counted from December 26, the day after Christmas, to January 6, the traditional day for celebrating the coming of the wise men to worship Jesus, also called the day of "Epiphany."

Santa's not Real, I'm the Devil!
I was participating in a post on Facebook and the question was about telling your children if Santa was real or not. When I was little, I believed in Santa. When I found out he wasn't real, I was heartbroken. I hated that I was lied to about it. So I made the decision to not lie to my kids.
My kids know all about the spirit of Christmas and the stories of Santa Claus. They know that there was once a man named St. Nick who gave gifts to children. They love all the Christmas movies, including the ones about Santa..they love all the Christmas songs.. They also know about some pagan traditions when it comes to Christmas and they know the beliefs of Christmas from the Christian point of view. We read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and the Story of the birth of Jesus. My children are well rounded when it comes to this.

My "Political" Rant
Over the past few days I've been seeing tons of things about the election and what it means, as I'm sure most of you have too. One thing that stuck out to me was the talk of "Traditional America" being gone.
The title of an article I read really grabbed my attention -
"The days of white male hegemony are finally, mercifully over." - For those who don't know, "hegemony" means leadership or dominance, esp by one country or social group.

Me, Me, Me... More about Me!
I did a "Get to know the Creator of the page" post on *AWDIWH* the other day and now I'll answer the questions...
Where were you stationed and when? How long have you been an army wife? What's your hubs' MOS?
The first place we went was Fort Riley, KS. Then we moved onto Fort Carson, CO, then to Fort Hood, TX and we're currently at Fort Stewart, GA.
My husband joined the army in 2002...so I've been living this lifestyle with him for 10 1/2yrs now. There have been times when I've questioned whether or not I could handle it, but I always come out stronger through each trial.
I can never remember the technical term for my husband's MOS. His main "job" is being a tank mechanic. Right now though, he is an SGL out at WLC. (Small group leader, aka Instructor, at Warrior Leadership Course...he trains NCOs - Non-commissioned Officers.)

Hurricane Sandy - Wicked Ol' Bitch
Hurricane Sandy was crazy. I was watching the news and keeping updated via a Facebook page and my Twitter - as I was seeing the pictures of the devastation to the East Coast I was sharing them on my Instagram.
This storm is the largest Atlantic hurricane on record and the second costliest Atlantic hurricane, beat by Katrina. Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the East Coast near Atlantic City, NJ.
Watching the news and seeing the damage via video coverage and photos ripped my heart apart. This storm killed 113 people in the United States...one of the saddest stories I remember was of the mother whose 2 boys were ripped from her arms by the water and found dead the next morning.

My Christ Year.. 33
My 33rd birthday has come and gone.. October 27, 2012... Nothing big or spectacular lol Just figured I should mention it..
With my husband's schedule how it is, he is hardly ever home. I thought him not being deployed would be a blessing, and it is, but his hours with the instructor position are nuts and we hardly get any time together.. Yes, I'm whining.. I'm allowed =)
So, for my birthday, all I wanted was time together. Just like our anniversary. I'm a simple gal. I don't care about expensive gifts or fancy things. The memories of being with my husband and kids are more precious to me than anything in the world.

The ride wasn't too bad, we met about half way. They came down from NJ and we went up from GA. There were a few things that stood out during the ride though..

Twisted Panties, Oh My!
The other day I post a vent that was sent into my inbox on my fan page, *Army WIves Do It With Hooah*. This vent caused somewhat of an uproar. I said I agreed with some of it and disagreed with some of it, but I didn't really comment on it at the time because I was on my phone and didn't feel like typing it all out that way. So, I'll address it now. I'll also say now that when I say "you", I'm not addressing the person specifically who wrote this vent. I'm addressing everyone who feels that way lol it's generally speaking.
Here was the vent:
"I really just have a vent.

Okay. I realize that when you marry somebody in the military, or your
husband joins, you get a dependent ID card, but that DOES NOT make you
military. YOU didn't sign the paperwork, YOUR kids didn't sign the
paperwork, he did(or wife in some cases). I am SO tired of hearing,
"Civilians just don't understand what its like to be military". Last I
checked, My husband just joined the army, not me, I AM a civilian, and
so is our daughter. I didn't sign ANYTHING, my husband did.

4 Weeks of Fun!!
On Monday, October 1st, I wrote up 4wks worth of "exercises" to do to push my butt into gear. I may not follow each day exactly, depends on how I feel physically, but I WILL do something everyday. I have some exercise videos that I want to start doing so they are what I'm focusing on this month. I want to see what I like and what works for me.

WTF Sergeant?
This morning, as I was walking my daughter to school like I do every morning, I witnessed what I can only assume was a woman on a power trip. My jaw kinda dropped a little bit and I refrained from saying anything because of the kids around.
Sometimes people will hear me complain about the idiot crossing guards at the school, but the female soldier who has been up there the past few weeks has been cool. Nothing to complain about from me. Well, as I was coming up on the crosswalk today, she stopped traffic, like she normally does, and let some parents and kids pass. I noticed as she was stopping the traffic there was a black vehicle that just kept inching it's way forward. The crossing guard sternly put her hand up in the "stop" manner.

My Locket & My Story
Here is My Locket & My Story for T.Graham - Origami Owl Independent Designer
Blessed - I've overcome many obstacles in my life and have come out stronger for it in the end. I have been blessed with wonderful kids, a husband who always provides, amazing friends and loving family. I wake up every morning knowing I'm blessed to see another day. This part of my locket reminds me to always be thankful for what I have been blessed with.
The Coffee Cup - The coffee cup reminds me of good friends. It reminds me specifically of my "sisters" that I met in Junction City, KS. Those amazing women got me through one of the toughest years of my life, my husband's first deployment. They helped bring me closer to God and they helped me see the strength I never knew I had. This part of my locket reminds me of our coffee times together (even though all of them didn't drink coffee) and the wisdom they passed on to me.

Watch What You Eat!
If you're looking to lose weight, you HAVE to watch what you eat! I have read that "controlling your portion size is a key element in bringing your body to a state of controlled and manageable weight." I believe this to be true!! A few years ago when I lost just under 50lbs, watching what I ate played a major part in my weight loss.
I used a food journal and wrote down everything I ate/drank. I cut down my portion sizes to NORMAL servings and counted my calories. By counting calories and writing down exactly what I was eating and drinking, I could see where I needed improvement and how I could make the most of my calories. It didn't long to figure out I could eat more and feel more satisfied by cutting junk and replacing it with fruits and veggies.

Health/Fitness "Quiz"
Two important things need to happen for you to get healthy and fit. First, you need to have the right attitude. Second, you need make a commitment! After you've got that done, it's good to have a baseline to start at so you can physically see where you can start making better choices and start the journey to a healthier and more fit "you"!
In a book I'm reading, there is this Health/Fitness "Quiz". It helps you develop your Health/Fitness profile so you know where to go from there. When you're done answering the quiz and you get your "number", go back and see where you need improvement and set your goals from there!

HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training
I'm always googling things about weight loss and strength training and what are the best things to do. Not only did I keep seeing things about HIIT, but I have seen others actually talking about it. So for those who may not know, HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training.
What exactly does this mean?
HIIT is a type of training where you alternate short, high intensity exercises with recovery intervals. For example, sprinting for 60 seconds and walking for 2 minutes. Repeating for 30mins which includes a 5min warm-up walk and a 5min cool-down walk.

Being Green - Saw this Floating around FB
Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older
woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags
weren't good for the environment.
The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days."
The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations."
She was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day.

Suicide Prevention Week - September 9th - 15th, 2012
This week is Suicide Prevention Week.
I met someone a few years ago who had committed suicide. I won't share the story because I don't want to tell it without those involved knowing I am writing of it. I will say that it was a horrible tragedy and affected MANY people. I barely knew her and it affected me. She had a history of being depressed. Research has consistently shown a strong link between suicide and depression, with 90% of the people who die by suicide having an existing mental illness or substance abuse problem at the time of their death.

Teddy's From The Troops - (Product Review)
"Teddy's From The Troops" was started last November by an Army Veteran/Army Wife, Pamela Larson. During her husbands third deployment she took some of her old uniforms and made a few bears for her 2 young children to help comfort them during the deployment. Pamela says her children immediately loved them and that is what gave her the idea to start making them for others to give to their children who are dealing with a military separation.
Mrs. Larson did research on different styles of bears and tested the finished products on her kids and with some of her friends. Her finding was that her bears helped bring some comfort to children who were going through a military separation from one of their parents.

Stars Earn Stripes - See what the Operatives had to say!
Unfortunately I was unable to attend the Press and Media conference call, BUT they were gracious enough to provide me with a transcript! The transcript is 27 pages long so I will not post all of it, but will share some of the questions and answers.
From my previous post about Stars Earn Stripes we learned that Military Operatives would be working with celebrities to compete in competitions inspired by real military exercises. They compete for money to be donated to several different charities that benefit our military service members and their families.

Poet's Day - 8/21/2012 A few of my Faves & Personal Ones
Today is "Poet's Day". In honor of "Poet's Day" I'm going to share a few of my fave poems and a few personal ones. I first got into poetry during my 7th grade Literature and Writing class. I began writing poems as a release for my emotions when I felt I had no one to talk to. My Aunt Sharon bought me a book to keep them in and I still have it, battered and worn....

My Eye "Issues"
A few weeks ago I woke up and my vision was funny. My right eye was blurry and my left eye seemed like I had a gray veil over it. If I focused on something, I could see it clearly but I couldn't see around it. So I made an appt with an eye doctor.

Babies 2 Boys 2 Men - Growing Up Fast
My baby boys aren't babies anymore =( While I kinda miss the cuddling that comes with the younger age, I'm glad to see them grow older. They have their typical kid moments of not wanting to do their chores and being told to clean up their room, but other than that, my boys are wonderful!
DeeJay just turned 13 in July. A teenager... He is a little interested in girls, but not too much...yet. Girls think he is cute, but he pays them no mind really. Hopefully he holds off longer LOL DeeJay is my gamer child. He loves to play all the COD games and other shooting games as well. Or "murder/death/kill" as I like to call them. DeeJay has had a love of all things army related ever since my husbands first deployment back in 2003. DeeJay had just turned 4yrs old when Darrell deployed the first time. I told him and Richie that daddy had to go to Iraq and help fight the bad guys to keep the good people their safe. DeeJay instantly wanted the little army men with guns and would play with them for hours, pretending to take down the bad guys. When he started to draw, he was drawing soldiers killing the bad guys. He wanted to be like daddy.

Inquiring Minds Want To Know (small rant)
Today I saw two things that just kind of boggled me. One was in a group on Facebook and the other was on my Facebook page - *Army Wives Do It With Hooah*
The first thing I saw, that was in the group, was a woman posted a picture that had a little rhyme that said something like "twinkle twinkle little whore, close your legs they're not a door". Well someone commented on it saying this girl was a hypocrite b/c she supposedly said she had previously cheated on her husband (as revenge for him cheating on her).

Anyway... in comments regarding that blog post, I saw a lot of people saying things that were "making fun" of wives who sell Scentsy. I have seen it before about Pure Romance, 31, Passion Parties & other Direct Sales companies.

Alexis had her 1st Heartbreak

My Life is Soooo Perfect!!
Yeah, not really - lol. I was told that I "act" like my life is "perfect". Really? I think I missed that memo! You see, my life isn't perfect, far from it, and I know that. The difference between me and some others is that I don't blast all my problems for the world to see, whether it be on Facebook, Twitter or Formspring, or just random people I meet.
Do I have problems in my personal life? YES! Everyone does at some point or another. That's a give in.

Pre-Baby Body Diet and Exercise Tips (By: Katie Moore - guest blogger)
I went into
my pregnancy excited! I was excited about the life growing inside of me and excited
for meeting my child for the first time. While many women might experience a
little anxiety regarding childbirth and all that it entails, most women are
more concerned with transitioning to motherhood. One of the biggest transitions
I had to make was getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

One Decade Down - several more to go!
Yesterday was our 10yr Wedding Anniversary. With my husbands work schedule we haven't had much time together and he left it up to me as to what I wanted to do. I didn't choose anything that would make you go "WOW".. lol... I chose it to be with my family, spending much needed time together. The hubs and I did a movie together and then we took the kids bowling. Went home and vegged out watching movies, snacking and having a few drinks. It was exactly what I needed.

Military Spouse Community - Build Eachother Up, Stop Tearing Eachother Down
I've been contemplating on a post like this for a while and finally decided to do it. I've been a part of the military spouse community on the internet for at least 6 years now...from Myspace to Facebook. In the beginning of my "myspace days" I will admit, I was a pretty big bitch. We had our group where the new spouses would come in and we would literally attack. I won't say all the things we did, but we were horrible and looking back I'm ashamed of my behavior. I'd like to think that I'm making up for all of the stupid things I did by helping spouses now.

Breastfeeding in Uniform?
I'm an avid supporter of breastfeeding and I don't mind breastfeeding in public. However, I think there are things that just might cross the line. A female service member breastfeeding in uniform might be one. I'm not completely sure how I feel about it, I kinda have mixed feelings.

Not really...I'm just gonna vent a little bit. Feel free to disagree with me at any time, that's your right =)
Why is it that when the spouse of a service member complains they are called ungrateful? Okay, you may not say "you're being ungrateful" but saying "you should be grateful" is basically the same thing.

Love the babies!!
As much as I love babies, I'm glad I can't have anymore. I think I would go nuts lol..but I love to play and take care of other peoples babies =)
Yesterday, my friend Mistie brought her triplets over for a bit while she had a "date" with some other moms in the area who also have multiples. If you are in the Fort Stewart area/Savannah/Coastal Area and have multiples, check out their group:
Coastal Parents of Multiples
The babies are just soooo precious!! I love having them over and so does my daughter. Alexis just picks them up like she's a pro baby holder lol.. I remember how upset she was when she had to wait to see them b/c they were too little.
Well, I just basically wanted to share the group for multiples in this area and Mistie's blog too- Army Life With Tripless
Enjoy reading!!

Questions for Me From some *AWDIWH* fans!
The other day I asked the fans on my page if there was anything they wanted to know from me personally... so here we go!
Melanie Greeke - "Can you talk about the phrase "sanctity of marriage" and how it has absolutely no meaning?? I'm tired of hearing it."
Let's dig a little here... "Sanctity of Marriage" or "Holy Matrimony" to me is more for those who are "religious". This is the idea of sacredness in marriage. "Sanctity" has the meaning of "holiness"..for those who do not believe in God, "sanctity in marriage" most likely doesn't exist.
However, this doesn't mean that they don't take their vows seriously or respect their marriage.
Now, even though I do believe in God, I'm not a fan of "sanctity of marriage". There are several reasons why... one, the divorce rate in America is ridiculous and clearly shows that "sanctity of marriage" isn't what it use to be. Those who claim they believe in the "sanctity of marriage" don't respect it. They disrespect themselves and their spouse which throws the "sanctity" right out the window.
Two, I have seen many "christians" who believe in the "sanctity of marriage" yet they don't follow Christ. If you followed Christ and believed in the "sanctity of marriage" your life would show it. If that light doesn't shine through you, don't preach it to others.
Three, I've been cheated on. Sanctity for me no longer exists. It will never come back.
So basically, I think "sanctity of marriage" really doesn't matter. What matters is that when you make your vows, you take them seriously. You respect the boundaries of your marriage, you respect your spouse. You don't give up at the first sign of trouble. Unless you are being physically, mentally & emotionally abused, you do everything in your power to make it work. Too many people treat a marriage like it's a game.
If you believe in the "sanctity of marriage" and it works for you, good, I'm truly happy for you. If you don't believe in it, that's alright with me too!! But no one should be judging the other on what works for them.
Ellen Hunt-Crane - "So... Here I was, just drinking my morning coffee. My cat sits by me.. normal thing right? Nope. Not this time. The bastard farted."
LOL I had to comment on this...there was a bit of a "discussion" going on in the thread about the "sanctity of marriage" and Ellen posted this as a distraction I'm assuming. It made me chuckle...and I'd like to add that I hated it when my dog would fart... man it was the nastiest thing EVER!! lol
Kara Cunningham - "What was the motivation behind creating this page, and what were your expectations at first?"
I guess my motivation behind this page was a group on MySpace. I joined a group of hilarious wives on MySpace during one of my husbands deployments.. they helped me in more ways then they could ever know. I still talk to alot of them and one of them is actually my co-admin on the page. MySpace died and we migrated to Facebook. We had no group on Facebook so I made the page.
I had tried doing other "support" pages first though..but I couldn't stand all the hearts and lovey dovey crap...if you said what you felt, instead of what they wanted to hear, you were mean, negative and dramatic.. So, I wanted a spot where I could use my experience and knowledge to help others w/o having to sugar coat things.
I wanted a place where myself and others could seek advice, vent, discuss/debate, bitch and whatever else w/o feeling that we had to tip-toe around sensitive women who only want to hear "everything will be alright sweetie" instead of the truth.
I'm not sure what my expectations were when I made the page. I wanted to help others and keep myself occupied lol...it has certainly become more than I ever thought it would. While I have my days where I would love it if I could smack someone through my laptop screen, I keep going on because of the impact I know I have made on others.
Christine Nola Gibson - "Do you think that there is one incident, event, experience that defines you moreso than other one in your life? Why? Which one?"
I don't think there is one specific incident, event, or experience that defines me more than another. I have had so many that I have been through and done that I take something from them all. I do think that there are specific experiences that have given me more strength than other ones... ones that have given me more hope... more faith... more courage... more determination... more open-mindedness... everything together defines me.
Ellen Hunt-Crane - "Was there a time in your marriage that you felt it wasn't going to make it? I ask because it seems like a lot of people, including myself, have felt that at one time or another."
In all honesty, there have been more a few times where I felt it wasn't going to make it. I'm struggling with that right now. I don't think that is important though.
What I think is important is how you handle those feelings. Are you going to let them get the best of you? Just give up? Or are you going to fight and give it all you got until you have no more to give? Are you going to keep doing the same old thing, or are you going to take the time to figure what is wrong, why you feel it might not make it, and then do something to fix it? I choose to give it my all until I have nothing left to give.
Angie Phillips - "What is your deployment guilty pleasures, and routine?"
Each deployment I had different guilty pleasures & routines.
During his first one, I was really big in going to church. My routine stemmed from my church family and the "sisters" I gained through them. I had started going to church on Tuesday night for Bible Study, on Wednesday morning for Ladies Bible Study..Thursday night for service... On Saturdays we went "soul winning", where we invited people out to church & then service on Saturday night... On Sunday mornings I went to service & ended up teaching Sunday school & went to service Sunday night. It seems like a lot, but really I felt it wasn't enough at the time. I loved the people there, the energy, the togetherness we shared. My guilty pleasures during this deployment was reading lol... I know it doesn't sound exciting, but I use to read all the time until I had kids. Two toddlers took up a lot of time. So I had made the time again to read. Reading relaxed me and helped me keep my mind off the deployment.
During his second deployment, we were already living somewhere else. I didn't have my same church family but I went to the church we had in that area. I met some great ladies there too but my time at church wasn't as much as it was before. By then we had the boys and Alexis. My daily routine was taking the boys to school, coming home and taking care of the house and playing with Alexis. The boys would come home and we would do extra learning activities along with their homework. I didn't really have any guilty pleasures that time...I just busied myself with the kids.
During his third deployment, we were living somewhere else, again! I didn't go to church at all there. I did make a few amazing friends... if it weren't for Heather L. and Amber V. I would have fallen apart. I had so many trials during that time. I spent my days with Heather drinking coffee and talking..shopping and storm chasing a time or two... One of my guilty pleasures was taking the back road to the Walmart from West Fort Hood... I loved to sit in the middle of the road while the cows crossed and just watch them.. it reminded me of back home in Jersey... Another guilty pleasure was my and Amber's "Dexter nights"! We would run up to the little spot at the shoppette and grab lots of Spam-musabi's and stuff our faces while lounging on the couch watching Dexter. It was heaven...lol
During his fourth deployment, we were yet again, somewhere else. My routine here was a bit different. Most of his deployment, my routine consisted of school work and gym time and doctors appointments. I was losing weight so my guilty pleasure was new clothes and I rewarded myself each week with my fave drink from Starbucks.
Tabitha-James Sutton - "How does your hubby feel about the page?"
Darrell "rags" on me sometimes about it, but I think he really likes it. Well, not so much likes the page itself, but likes that I like it b/c I get to help others. I think he is proud, but doesn't like to admit it. A few times when I have met some new soldiers, my husband will bring up the page, "You know, if your wife needs help or anything, she should check out my wife's page..." One thing he doesn't like is me getting too personal when it involves him. He is a private person. There are times when he helps me with advice and times when he laughs at some of the stuff. No, he doesn't post on there and no he isn't even a fan lol
Ben Bierman - "How do u inbox ? Like u know so its posted as a ? On here ? How many people run this page ? Just one ?"
There is a contact tab and my email is in the info/about section. I am the only one who posts the inboxes, so only I see them. But I do have another admin who posts occasionally and helps me keep an eye on the page when I go out of town and stuff. I am the main one who posts though. When my other admin, Rissa, posts she signs her name. I never sign my name.
Christine Nola Gibson - "How do you feel about the use of the term Military "brats"? Do you think it puts a bad spin on children who were raised in the military?"
I really didn't have a problem with that term before, but now I don't care for it much. Here's why... I had to file a complaint with housing against someone whose children were just out of control. As it turns out, I was not the first to do so. I don't know if the lady was suppose to or not, but she actually showed me one of the complaints b/c of something we were specifically talking about. In this report, the woman I was filing a complaint against had told them "they're military brats, that's what they do", referring to her kids. UH NO. My kids have been "military brats" for 10yrs. My boys are 12 & 11 and my daughter is 6. My kids are NOTHING like hers. My kids are not disrespectful to adults...my kids don't run around with knives threatening other kids...my kids don't destroy property.. my kids don't go around calling people "faggots" or telling black girls "take your black ass back to the ghetto"... So, no, I do not like the term "military brats" now lol... I refuse to have my kids lumped into what she thinks is acceptable for kids who she says are "military brats".
If there are other things you want to ask, post a comment here on my blog post and I'll do another post like this =) Thanks for reading!

★Care Packages - Here are some Ideas★
I can't even begin to count the number of care packages I have made over the past 10yrs. Not only did I make them during my husbands 4 deployments, but I also sent him packages during AIT. Those packages didn't contain as much as the deployment ones, but they were still appreciated.
When my husband was in AIT I was always baking him brownies and cookies. Not just a little bit either! I made enough for him to share with his class. They all looked forward to it. Home made goodies while away from home was a treat. (*Tip* Let your baked good cool completely before sealing up to ship off.)
One thing that is a must for your packages is the boxes, right? Of course!! A lot of people like to use the flat rate boxes. You can order them online and have them brought directly to your home so that you have them when you need them -
Order your Free Shipping Kit
For me, a lot of times, I would just get a big box from WalMart because of how much I would ship at once. It came out cheaper for me because of the number of flat rate boxes I would need.
*Tip* If you're going to ship canned goods, I would use the flat rate boxes. You pay one price, no matter the weight.
Here are some basic things your loved one might need in a care package:
(Depending where they are, they may have access to a small PX where they can get these items themselves)
*Toothpaste *Deodorant *Soap *Powder *Lotion *Baby Wipes *Sunscreen *Shampoo *Sanitary products for females *Shaving Cream/razors
The packages I made for husband contained some personal hygiene items and his favorite snacks and canned goods. I also sent him sheets, a good pillow, his favorite team blanket and really whatever he asked for.
You can do theme packages too for some fun and variety.
One Christmas I sent my husband a big box full of Christmas stuff. I included Christmas cards for all his soldiers, a small Christmas tree w/ decorations in the color of his favorite football team, a singing Santa, and edible Christmas goodies.
For Valentine's Day, we sent him some of his favorite candy, some heart confetti and a big cheesy Valentine Bear with valentine's from the kids.
For Easter we made him his own Easter Basket and filled it with goodies.
Do the same for each Holiday...you can also do sports themed ones for something random. Put different balls in there for them to toss around on free time, a dvd collection of sports funniest moments, a jersey to hang in their room and a sexy pic of you in the jersey =)
A summertime package can have a variety of small water guns, some lei's, bubbles, sunscreen, and water balloons.
You can make a sexy "I miss you" package. Fill it with candy hearts & lips. Buy a new pair of sexy panties, spray them with your perfume and put them in a ziplock baggie for him... add some "love coupons" for him to cash in when he gets home. Write him a naughty poem or story and sign it with a your kiss.

Thanks "Here's to the Heroes" - Busch Gardens
A few days ago the kids and I went to Busch Gardens with some friends. We got in Free thanks to "Here's to the Heroes". We used our complimentary single day admission.

The Shooting of Trayvon Martin - My thoughts...
I've decided to do a little "research", the best I can, and share it here along with my opinion after looking over all my "research".
I listened to the 911 call from Zimmerman and clearly got the following:
1. in the 911 tape Zimmerman says he thinks Martin is on drugs and Martin has his hand in his waste band...that something is wrong with Martin... and Martin has something in his hands...
2. Zimmerman says Martin is coming towards him and then he says Martin is running the other direction ...and the 911 guys says "are you following him?" and Zimmerman says yes and the 911 guy says not to follow him
So, from that I gather Zimmerman saw Martin, thought he looked suspicious and called 911, gave a description of Martin along with implying he was on drugs and he might have a weapon and that something was "wrong" with him. From this alone, the police would have probably approached him aggressively because Zimmerman made it sound worse than what he originally said when he first called 911 that "this guy looks suspicious".
Eye Witness account: Mary Cutcher
She is one of 6 witnesses and the cops never questioned her fully until she kept calling them. She said this happened in her back yard, that she heard a boy crying and the gun went off and the crying stopped. She said they came out and asked what was going on and was everything okay and Zimmerman said to call the cops. She said Martin looked to be half of Zimmerman's size. She also said she saw Zimmerman straddling Martin's body with his hands pressed on his back, making no effort to aid him.
According to Zimmerman:
"Martin decked him with a single punch, then repeatedly slammed his head into the sidewalk."
He claims he shot Martin in self-defense.
Other witnesses say:
"At least one witness told police he saw Martin pounding Zimmerman"
"Reports had surfaced earlier of people hearing cries for help but it was not clear if they came from Zimmerman or Martin"
"A woman who said she and her roommate witnessed the last moments of Martin's life said they heard the voice of what sounded like a young person in distress just before hearing a gunshot"
Now, this is my opinion and it is simply gathered from what I have read and listened to.
I don't know and I'm not going to assume it is some kind of hate crime because Martin is black. We don't KNOW if it has anything to do with race. However, in this video, at 2:20, right before the 911 dispatcher asks is Zimmerman following him, it sounds to me like Zimmerman whispers to himself "fucking coons". - VIDEO HERE - 911 CALL
My opinion is that Zimmerman was simply an overzealous neighborhood watch guy who was determined not to let this "asshole" get away. ((I say that b/c in the call to 911 Zimmerman says "these assholes are always getting away" - in no way am I saying Martin was an asshole))
Some questions of mine... People in the neighborhood watch program are to watch and call police with suspicious activity, correct? Yes..as Zimmerman did. HOWEVER, is part of neighborhood watch following "suspects"? If you are told NOT TO FOLLOW, why do you continue to follow? AND do those a part of neighborhood watch normally walk around armed? Why was Zimmerman carrying a gun to begin with while on neighborhood watch duty?
I personally think that Zimmerman was tired of crime in this neighborhood and was determined to get someone, anyone... I think the same would have happened had it been a White boy, a Hispanic boy or even a little Russian girl...he was out for vigilante justice in my opinion.
And, why shoot him in the chest? The boy was unarmed. Why not shoot him in the leg or arm?
The facts that I know to be true:
Zimmerman called the police on suspicious behavior.
Zimmerman chased Martin and was told to stop following him.
At some point in time there was a scuffle between the two.
A boy is dead.
Zimmerman should have NEVER went after him after being told not to follow. He is completely at fault here b/c he should have let the cops do their job.
Zimmerman clearly broke neighborhood watch rules:
Chris Tutko, director of Neighborhood Watch for the National Sheriffs’ Association, said Zimmerman broke some cardinal rules.
First, he approached a stranger he suspected of wrongdoing.
“If you see something suspicious, you report it, you step aside and you let law enforcement do their job,” Tutko said. “This guy went way beyond the call of duty. At the least, he’s overzealous.”
Second, Zimmerman carried a handgun. Police departments and sheriff’s offices that train volunteers advise them never to carry weapons — though Zimmerman broke no laws by doing so because he has a concealed-weapons permit.

You decide for yourself...

Green Cupcakes for St. Patty's Day - I heard they were delish!!
My daughters teacher asked if any parents would like to do something "green" for snack time last week & this week b/c they were celebrating St. Patty's Day. I volunteered to do green cupcakes... Alexis said they were yummy!
The night before I had went and bought some green food coloring and THOUGHT I had everything else... well the morning I was to bring them in, I saw I still needed ONE egg lol... I went to 3 different Shoppettes to get eggs! They really should keep more in stock for people like me who only need one =) Thankfully I got some eggs and got the cupcakes to the school with 15mins to spare =)
What kind of foods do you make for special times of the year?

ACU Bags and Wallets by HollyBelle' Bags
If you're looking for an ACU bag, check out ACU Bags and Wallets by HollyBelle' Bags . Her stuff is beautiful and she is super sweet!!
I first learned of Holly when I competed in a referral contest for her. The prize was an ACU wallet and I won. I got to choose the color of my trim and for those who know, I'm sure you can guess I chose purple. I got my wallet and loved it..that was when I decided, after 9yrs of being an army wife, to get an ACU purse to use as my "Scentsy Brag Bag".
Here is my wallet and purse:
Then, at Christmas time, she was making cute little ACU ornaments and I thought it would be neat to get one for each post we've been to so far and I'll continue to get one each time we PCS.
And now today I went and picked up my key chain she made for me to match my purse & wallet =)
If you're looking for something like this, Holly is your gal!!

Girl Time w/ Alexis --- *My 300th Blog Post*
When I was growing up, my mother never spent much quality time with me and as I got older I realized how much it really bothered me. My boys, who are 11 and 12, don't care much to hang out with me. I guess I'm not cool, I don't know lol...but my daughter thinks I'm the best thing ever!
Alexis loves going everywhere with me. She started the whole "girls day out" thing last year when she wanted to go somewhere with me "without the boys", meaning no DeeJay, no Richie, and no Daddy. So sometimes we sneak off to WalMart and get a special treat, or sneak out to eat, just the two of us...or the park or the library... she has a blast...and when she is happy, I'm happy.
Well, last month we did a girls weekend out! That was a blast!! We went up to Fort Benning, just me and her, to meet Rissa, Tasha & Sarah... we went out to eat, jumped on the beds in the hotel room, went to the Circus and sang like nuts during the car ride there and back.
Here she was on the way there...in the back surrounded by all the Scentsy Buddies she wanted to bring. ((She loves those things lol))
Our next "girls day out" that I took some pictures of was on St.Patty's Day when we went down to the Jacksonville Zoo - Jacksonville Zoo FB Page - it was about a 2hr drive for us, but so worth it!! We both loved the Zoo...
We rode on the train, touched Sting Rays at "Sting Ray Bay", saw lots of animals, rode the Carousel, saw Butterfly Hollow & played in a maze... Great day =)
Love my "baby" girl =)

Who Cares About Rank? I do!
Over the past few days while "creepin'" on Facebook, I have seen talk of rank in the military community, including on my page *AWDIWH*....
A few things made me laugh...one thing that made me laugh was spouses who were so adamant that more wasn't expected of them as their service member gained rank. I'm not referring to the way you dress or act reflecting on your service member, that to me, is common sense. I'm referring to attending certain functions, meetings & ceremonies...and no, I'm not saying you are required to do anything with the FRG. However, if your service member is making a career of the military, being social with him at his required social events will make him look better. Image can go a long way and can positively or negatively affect your service member.
Another thing that made me laugh was someone said something to the effect like "having an attitude is wearing your service members rank"... huh? First, let me state that I have NEVER, in person, come across a spouse who has "wore" their service members rank...I see some on the internet try to act high and mighty, but not in person. Frankly, I don't care if a spouse tries to "wear their service members rank". It doesn't effect me at all. And is it really that big of a deal when a woman wears her husbands rank patch on her ACU purse or diaper bag? Really? That doesn't mean she is walking around saying, "I'm Mrs. CPT MyShitDontStink"... I have an ACU purse that I use as my "Scentsy Brag Bag". Yes, it has my husbands rank on it... but guess what? HE WANTED IT ON THERE lol... So, in short, I really don't care if a spouse wants to act all "I'm better than you" b/c their service member is a specific rank. It doesn't affect me or anything I do... The only way it affects me is if I let it.
The last thing that gave me a little chuckle, while I was reading it via my phone, while having lunch with the hubs today was women saying they didn't care about their husbands rank. Really? I don't understand that. Do I care about YOUR service members rank? No, that has nothing to do with me. However, I do care about MY husbands rank. Why would I not care? Me saying I didn't care about his rank would be like a huge slap in the face to him. He joined FOR US, to get us out of the shit-hole town we lived in. He works his ass off FOR US, his family..he is making a career of the Army FOR US... so, yeah, let me just tell him, "Honey, I don't care about your rank...I don't care about all the time and energy you put into your career to earn that rank... I don't care about you being in charge of keeping guys safe during deployment while bullets are flying at your chest...all that you've done to earn your rank means nothing b/c I don't care about it." That would be a stab in the chest to him. He is proud of his rank and how fast he earned it and I'm proud of him too. Being proud of your service members rank doesn't mean you're flaunting it or bragging. And for those who don't care about their husbands rank, I wonder if they would care if he didn't move up in rank...or if he got knocked down. I bet that would change things.
